What will you be doing?
Are you passionate about driving safety excellence in one of the most challenging and dynamic industries? Join us as a Safety & Environment Engineer – Technical Safety, where you will play a pivotal role in planning and executing critical technical safety deliverables for major projects. Based in Stavanger, you will be at the forefront of establishing and updating safety philosophies and strategies that protect people, assets, and the environment in the Norwegian oil and gas sector.
In this role, you will prepare detailed design specifications and engineering reports covering systems such as fire and gas detection, fire protection, escape and evacuation routes, and area classification. You will also prepare and update safety documents, support procurement processes, and conduct risk assessments—including qualitative and quantitative analyses—to ensure solutions meet the highest safety standards. Your expertise will guide safety design reviews such as HAZID, safety assessments, and ALARP evaluations, contributing directly to safer project outcomes.
Qualifications we think you should have:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in technical safety engineering within Norwegian oil and gas or a related heavy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Norwegian regulations, including NORSOK S-001 and S-002, along with familiarity with other industry standards.
- Proven ability to work independently with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proactive mindset with a keen eye for detail in safety planning and execution.
- Proficient in software tools such as TIME, MicroStation, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Available for work in Norway.
- Good communication skills in Norwegian and English; a team player who is communicative, extroverted, and hands-on.
Nice-to-have skills
- Experience working on projects on the Norwegian continental shelf.
- Familiarity with procurement processes related to safety equipment and services.
- Additional certifications or training in risk assessment methodologies and safety systems.
Preferred education and experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, safety engineering, or a related science/technical field.
- Proven track record of delivering technical safety responsibilities in project environments.
