Position Overview
The Application Administrator I (SAP Application and Material Inventory Support Analyst) is responsible for providing day-to-day support of material master data, inventory processes, and material movements within SAP. This role works closely with Engineering, Operations, Warehouse, Manufacturing, and Planning teams to ensure data accuracy, inventory integrity, and timely resolution of SAP material and inventory-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Inventory & Material Master Support
  • Create panel part numbers and material master records in SAP.
  • Extend panel and material part numbers across SAP instances as required.
  • Populate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Manufacturing Operations to ensure BOM accuracy and alignment.
Inventory Accuracy & Stock Control
  • Support cycle counts and annual or periodic physical inventories, reconciling physical stock against SAP records.
  • Analyze inventory discrepancies and collaborate with warehouse and production teams to identify root causes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and movements using standard SAP reports (e.g., Stock Overview, Material Documents)
User Support & Issue Resolution
  • Provide first-line support for SAP inventory and material-related issues.
  • Investigate and resolve user errors, incorrect postings, and basic system issues.
  • Log, track, and manage incidents in the ticketing system, escalating complex issues to senior SAP or IT teams as needed.
Process Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Support and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to SAP inventory and material handling.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to master data, processes, or user practices.
  • Participate in testing small system changes or enhancements related to SAP inventory (e.g., new movement types, new storage locations).
Training & Documentation
  • Provide “how-to” guidance and day-to-day support to warehouse, production, and planning users.
  • Create and maintain user guides, quick reference materials, and FAQs.
  • Support onboarding and training of new users on SAP inventory and material processes.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience in warehouse, inventory, or production operations.
Experience
  • 1–2 years of experience working with SAP in an inventory, warehouse, or production environment.
  • Strong end-user or super-user SAP experience will be considered.
Technical & Functional Skills
  • Hands-on experience with SAP MM Inventory Management, including goods movements, stock types, and reservations.
  • Solid understanding of material master data and its impact on inventory management.
  • Ability to navigate SAP efficiently and interpret system messages, material documents, and postings.
  • Familiarity with standard SAP inventory reports.
  • Experience with ticketing or IT service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira) is an asset.
