Job Profile Summary
Baker Hughes production Controls Systems is seeking suitably experience Subsea Production Controls Senior Systems Engineers to work in the Tendering and Project Execution role. Working within a team of tendering engineers the role will lead the tendering effort on behalf of PCS Engineering and contribute to the wider ITO team tender offer.
Upon award of a project this role may transition to be part of the execution team as a PCS Systems Engineer supporting the Project Execution team in delivering the project commitments.
During the tendering phase you will be responsible for the PCS Engineering elements of the EPC tender, supported by the Engineering Product Owners and Engineering managers to compile a competitive system tender.
  • Engage in tender studies for subsea control system design and support the commercial team in producing a viable commercial offering
  • Ensure compliance with COMPANY and industry specification relating to the design and build of subsea control equipment
  • Mitigating the technical risk, interfacing with project execution teams
  • Review Client specifications, produce tender documentations including technical write up, technical risk registers etc
  • Take a lead role in the technical execution of tender quotes, ranging from system level offering to individual controls equipment orders
  • Lead client negotiations to secure optimal equipment solutions that met technical requirements and ensured cost efficiency
During execution you would be responsible for all technical aspects throughout the lifecycle of the project; covering architecture, design, integration, Test and Acceptance of New Product Initiatives for complex systems.
  • Supporting the design and development of Subsea Controls system using a Systems Engineering-based approach, conducting requirements management and analysis activities
  • Delivering updates to system model, Creating and maintaining requirement specifications, Production of design review material and Functional Design Specification
  • Assessing and categorizing new technology and products to satisfy requirements and overall system design intent
  • Supporting the definition of the Verification & Validation for the project and support the generation of design verification evidence
  • Ensuring designs mature in a controlled manner through the use a robust technical change control and impact assessment process
  • Supporting the definition and delivery of the System Integration, Test, and Acceptance phases”

Job Description – Senior Engineer
The Senior Engineer plays a supporting role through both individual and team assignments. In many cases they must apply technical and business knowledge to ensure successful outcomes. They should be able to work with and within cross-functional and cross-discipline teams. They are able to apply system engineering methodologies such as requirements definition, system architecture and integration, analyses, configuration management, and risk management in the design phase of products. At this level, they may also be recognized as an SME in their area of expertise or discipline and support others with both business and technical mentoring/coaching. This level may also require engagement with customers during the product definition and requirements gathering process for bids and proposals. At this seniority level some individuals may be Team Leaders which deliver technically and commercially sound products or services, with guidance, through deploying effective teams from project inception to delivery by setting and meeting project goals and objectives.

Interdisciplinary Engineering incorporates unique expertise, typically in emerging areas, utilizing knowledge and skills from multiple traditional engineering or non-traditional science, social or business disciplines.

Coordinates expertise in one or more engineering and science disciplines across the technology project portfolio, assuring rigor is applied through the design and development processes. Ensures needed personnel skills and expertise are in place across the organization for the discipline.
 
  • Required experience
    • Degree qualified in an engineering or marine discipline
    • Significant Subsea Control Systems experience
    • Strong prioritisation skills
    • The ability to be customer facing
    • The ability to work under pressure
    • Be comfortable with international travel even though it is not a common requirement
 
  • Preferred Experience
    • Chartered Engineer (or working towards it)
    • Tendering experience
    • Subsea Systems Delivery Experience
